Nez Perce / Nimipu
Palouse
(also "Pelus", "Pelouse", "Palus"). They are a branch of the Wallawalla who lived in the northwestern Rocky Mountains. They achieved a high reputation for breeding their precious Palouse horses.

The Wallawalla are a tribe of Shahaptin-Branch of Penuti language family. They lived in the northwestern Rocky Mountains. Their way of life was similar to that of their tribal relatives, the Des Chutes, Klikitat, Palouse and Yakima.
The Nez Percé called themselves Nimipu, Kaminu or Tsupeli. They are a tribe of Penuti family, which is included in the Sahaptin language family. Their tribal area was a vast area, which consisted of mountains, valleys, plateaus and prairies and stretched over southeast Washington, southwest Montana to northeast Oregon and central Idaho.
